MIAMI, FL. – JANUARY 26, 2023 – Univision’s PREMIO LO NUESTRO announced Puerto Rican Urban music pioneer Ivy Queen and three-time nominated salsa sensation Víctor Manuelle as recipients of this year’s Premio Lo Nuestro Legado Musical al Genero Urbano (Legacy of Urban Music Award) and Premio Lo Nuestro a la Trayectoria (Lifetime Achievement Award), respectively. “The Queen of Reggaeton” will be recognized for inspiring women and paving the way for other female artists in a historically male dominated genre, while Manuelle will be honored for three outstanding decades in Latin music.
Traditionally, Premio Lo Nuestro Legado Musical celebrates those artists whose musical legacy and contributions have largely influenced their respective genres, past winners include iconic artists Alejandro Fernández and Los Ángeles Azules. This year, Ivy Queen will break barriers becoming the first woman in the history of the show to receive the prestigious recognition. Víctor Manuelle will be recognized with a Premio Lo Nuestro a la Trayectoria in celebration of his brilliant 30-year musical career. Legendary figures such as Juan Gabriel, Marco Antonio Solís, Olga Tañón, and Daddy Yankee have previously been bestowed the award.
Hosted by Alejandra Espinoza, Adrián Uribe, Paulina Rubio, and Sebastián Yatra, PREMIO LO NUESTRO 2023 will air live from Miami-Dade Arena on Thursday, February 23 at 7 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. CT on Univision and will simulcast on Galavisión in the U.S. and Canal 5 in Mexico. Performers will be announced at a later date.
